I also got the impression something has gone on with one of the families and this made me feel quite uncomfortable.
The translation appears to be well done, but I thought a lot of characters were introduced quite quickly, and the jumping about between them left me a bit confused.
Perhaps once you get into the book, and the characters develop, it’s easier to keep track of what’s going on.
