This is a chilling first impression, a tale of a woman with seemingly no control over her life, she tries to hold back the tears as she has sex not completely willingly with a stranger. Why does she knock on the cab window and instigate the encounter? It appears that this isn’t the first time she has done this. Is the woman Liv? Is it Liv’s mother or a completely different person in a connected story line? Who is Liv’s son’s father, perhaps she has a mental illness caused by scaring from a difficult childhood, or perhaps there is another story waiting to unfold? I do like a book that has you asking questions from the get go.
