I wasn’t a huge fan of Stina Jackson’s The Silver Road and despite being attracted by the claustrophobic premise of The Last Snow I decided to read the first impression before committing to reading. The opening itself is very well conveyed and atmospheric with some wonderful descriptions of the landscape and a definite sense of unease. An intriguing start pulled me in and with what appears to be very little padding and a large cast the novel promises to be a pacy and puzzling mystery all set against the bleak landscape.
