Whilst the premise of the book really fascinated me and I was rather excited to read it, the actual execution did not quite meet my expectations.
The pacing of this story, was extremely slow, which did not make me want to continue reading. It made the thriller aspect of the novel, sort of fade into the background.
The characters were also quite unlikable, I was never really interested in what happened to them, which is not the idea for a story such as this one.
It is a shame, as I have read and enjoyed other Nordic Noic novels in the past, and this one just fell a little flat to me.
Yet, it was not all bad. The themes of the story were very clear, with secrets, love and hate being at the forefront. The writing was also rather good, it did not feel too poetic.
Overall, I think for fans of the genre, this book may be a little bit 'mustardy', either you love it or hate it.
