The Bjornlunds live in their run down house in the practically abandoned village of Odesmark. They are a peculiar & somewhat reclusive family; Vidar, the aging father, whose swindled most of the villagers out of their land, yet even with his fortune, he is a skinflint. Liv, his daughter, who has a strange sense of loyalty to her dad, even though he is controlling and ridiculously tight with money. Simon, Liv's teenage son.
Being the main source of village gossip, and Vidar the most hated man in Odesmark, there is no shortage of suspects when the old miser is found dead.
I love a good Scandinavian thriller, and this didn't disappoint.
The setting was perfect for me; the small village, surrounded by forest and near winter's end, it added to the dark atmosphere.
Although, I felt sorry somewhat for Liv & Liam, I can't say that any of the characters had any likeable traits.
