After reading Stina Jackson's debut novel The Silver Road, and really enjoying it, I was so looking forward to reading this book, and I wasn't disappointed! This is a fast paced thrilling read.
The story is based in a remote part of Lapland where an unconventional family live in a tumble down house. They are surrounded by forest and the winters are cold and cruel. Elderly Vidar shares his home with his daughter Liv and her son Simon. They are not well liked by the local residents due to decisions Vidar has made in the past. Many think that the family live a thrifty life but that the house holds a secret and they are in fact sitting on a fortune. One day something happens which changes everything.....
This book is full of interesting characters and amazing atmospheric descriptions of the place where they live, you can really immerse yourself into the story. I really enjoyed reading this book.
