This is a beautifully written book. I could feel and visualise the setting, and the characters.

Having said that, it took me some time to settle into the story. The flashbacks are dated but the current storyline isn’t, which will be a problem in years to come when readers will have no sense of timeline (unless they take note of the publication date).

Once in, I found the story engaging. A well presented novel of dark themes played out by complex characters in an isolated, remote community. It’s delicious and somewhat disturbing.

It was a good read. It did leave me with some unanswered questions, but that’s not a bad thing. Some things are better for being left to the imagination, or so I think. And I shall still be looking for more of Stina’s work.

Thank you to Readers First, Corvus and Stina Jackson for the ARC in return for my honest review.
