Haven’t read much “Scandi noir” as I think it’s called so this was my first introduction to it.
I really enjoyed it, dark bleak and despairing story hinging on the claustrophobic relationship between Liv, her son Simon and her father Vidar.
Living on the edge of small village in Sweden the family is not liked locally and live a outcasts.
Gossips in the area tell rumours of a vast fortune Vidar is hiding after his years of many dodgy dealings.
But someone from his past is looking for revenge and uses to brothers Liam and Gabriel to help him.
But things go badly wrong and their lives are in turmoil due to their action.
Strangely enough though there were a lot of unlikeable characters in this story there were also some the reader could pity and empathise with so the author created well rounded characters.
Overall this was a good read and will look more into reading others of the genre.
