I finished reading this engaging crime thriller in the early hours this morning. I meant to leave a few chapters for another day but just had to know who was the killer. Vidar was almost universally hated by everyone in the village so there were plenty of suspects. An unpleasant, greedy old man, he'd kept his daughter and grandson living with him through fear of their leaving him on his own. I sometimes had to recap which part of his daughter Liv's life was being written about, as the book hops around in time. We never can be totally sure who 'The Boy's father is. Vidar, the grandfather is supposedly very rich, so is that why he was killed? Was it because of some old grudge against him held for years? Or was his shooting simply a mistake by a couple of young drug-fuelled brothers hired to steal his money? Add in the rather frightening Northern forest in the snow, hunters, (possibly wolves), and this Stina Jackson thriller is an absolute cracker!
