Having read Stina Jacksons debut novel The Silver Road I couldn’t wait to pick this one especially after reading the interesting blurb.

The Last Snow is a well written and is full of some beautiful descriptions of the Swedish landscape which I could visualise even though I’ve never seen the landscape in person. Also, I struggled with the story moving backwards and forwards, although we learn a lot about the characters and back story it was sometimes a bit difficult to distinguish who’s POV we were getting

The plot although interesting was a little slow to start with and did take me quite a while to get into but it did pick up. The I also found the plot to be a little predictable in places and worked out the twist at the end.

I have mixed feeling about the characters. Some felt as though they were missing some depth and most of the time I found them unlikeable and struggled to related with them.

Overall, this was a good Nordic noir but not one that had gripped from start to finish. Comparing both books by this author, I definitely enjoyed The Silver Road more. Saying that I would happily give another book by this author a go.

If you are a fan of this genre or if you like prefer plot driven reads then this is definitely the book for you.

A big thank you to Readers First and the publishers Atlantic Books/Corvus for my ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
