Stina Jackson has an excellent grasp of character, which is evident from the outset. Because of this, I found myself quickly absorbed into the world she creates, and the setting she so beautifully describes, because I'm so invested in her characters, and what they decide to do next. I also loved her style of writing, with its evocative phrasing.
One thing to note is that, plot-wise, it does take a while for anything 'significant' to happen. For me, this absolutely was not a problem, as I loved the characters, and the time Jackson spent in establishing her characters and setting was well worth it. However, I would say overall that the plot is handled masterfully - thrillers like these can run into issues tying together all the threads of a plot, but Jackson writes a very good, and satisfying, ending (though I daren't say any more for ruining the story!).
