This book did not live up to my expectations. I found it to be very slow and boring - I really couldn’t identify with any of the characters and didn’t really care what happened to them. This was rather disappointing as I have read a lot of Scandinavia Noir books including Stina Jackson’s debut novel, The Silver Road, and expected to enjoy reading The Last Snow.
I abandoned my reading of this book half way through when I realised that it wasn’t going to get any better, according to other reviewers, and my mind kept wandering as the story didn’t capture my interest. I didn’t like promiscuous Liv, nor her miserly father, Vidar. The would be burglar brothers, Gabriel and Liam, were dull and not credible.
I don’t like to give negative reviews as I realise that we all have different tastes, however sometimes it’s better to be honest and perhaps save some other reader from wasting their time reading this when there are so many other good books they could be reading.
