The first chapters give you an insight to the story ahead and slowly introduce you to the main characters involved in the story ahead. There is a lot of back story which can get confusing if you are not paying attention as it slips from past to present day but it is a well written book. The main characters have a dark undercurrent and I was suspicious of everyone so wasn’t sure where the end was going when I started the story. The story is definitely a slow burner rather than a page turner but don’t let that put you off. The wording is done superbly as it sets the Nordic scene and creates amazing visuals, it really sets the scene of the setting and characters lives.
The story was a good read but the only thing that put me off was the main characters. The story was dark and set out how they have become the person they are but I did not find anyone particularly likeable and so was hard to root for anyone really but the superb writing kept me interested.
