I think it's quite a brave move to create a book positioned as middle grade whose subject matter is an apocalyptic vision of a comet destroying Earth and most of its population. It would have scared me I think at that age. I think the book is more likely to appeal to older readers, especially fans of science fiction and fantasy. So not me then. The book imagines some quite giant advances in technology but there are also nods to the commercialization of technology and the spread of conspiracy theories and advocates of racial 'purity' via social media. Quite heavy topics. I'm decades beyond middle grade and don't have children but the vocabulary seemed to me quite advanced for the readers the book is aimed at.
