Initially I thought it was a bit of a slow read and the main character wasn't really appealing to me but as I went along beyond the first few pages the pace really starts to pick up until by the time the excerpt ended it was cut off right at a very suspenseful moment. I'm excited to read the remainder! The cover is good enough but also quite derivative as it that style of cover illustration and even font is quite trendy among children's books at the moment.
