The perfect start to a dystopian/apocalyptic novel

I enjoyed how it started with the fire and the obsidian stone references to magic and witchcraft, old traditions of storytelling and then you are suddenly transported to a futuristic world where the people on Earth are awaiting an apocalypse, certain death and the end of the human race except a few who have been chosen to survive, this is intriguing as it seems they have found a way to live and survive yet there seems to be a dystopian vibe to the ship they’re on and the people running it.. I’m Curious to read on!
