I started off a little sceptical, not bring a fan of science fiction, but was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down! A selected number of people are going to be sent into space for a few hundred years to start the human race again on a planet a long way away, as Earth is going to be destroyed by Halley's Comet crashing into it. Our young heroine wants to be a storyteller in the new life, which might not be seen as an essential skill by the powers that be. The writing is powerful and very easy to relate to, it is a really great read.
