Written for older children or perhaps even young adults, The Last Storyteller tells of a family who are frozen aboard a space ship - bound for a new planet. With Earth due to be imminently destroyed by a comet, these travellers (along with the other chosen few) are due to be relocated to begin again and continue the human race. This is a journey that will take hundreds of years and as such involves much (unexpected) change.

This was an interesting story and I read it quickly, eager to find out how it was going to end. Petra is likeable, strong and brave as our heroine and the fact that her disability is mentioned but not used as a barrier is a real plus.

Despite being aimed towards a younger audience, this isn't an easy read - and at times it was quite sad. I really felt for many of the characters and what had been imposed upon them.

I'm left wondering what's in store next for the last storyteller?
