Petra Pena and her family are among the chosen few to be saved to recolonise a planet when Earth is hit by a comet.
Having to leave her world, friends, loved ones behind to be sacrificed her parents at least think they will be moving forward to a new life and a better future off a ravaged Earth.
But no one could know the "collective" has taken over the ship and is purging those who are deemed unfit for this glorious future.
When Petra wakes up hundreds of years into the future, she as a natural born story teller is the only one who remembers all the stories of Earth and it's now lost world.
But the collective is strong they want a new beginning, no reminders of the past.
But the past is where Petra's life is mired, she has to make the stories live again so no one forgets their history.
This is a bleak yet thought provoking sci fi novel of the state of the world, loss, heartbreak and yet hope.
A clever interweaving of story with a social conscience twist.
