Heartbreaking and gripping Middle grade sci-fi story
Following a comet destined to strike Earth, a select few board the ship to the planet Sagan. Whereby after nearly 400 years in stasis, they plan to start a new life on a new planet. However, there's a greater plan and Petra and the others find themselves under the control of the Collective. Petra is the only passenger to remember her life before, and she makes it her mission to keep the stories from Earth and her ancestors alive.. no matter the cost.
This book is emotional and gripping at the same time. I adored Petra and her courage, and my heart broke for her many times over. I found myself rooting for her to be the winner of this story from very early on.
Although this is not something I would usually read, I was pleasantly surprised and I ended up really loving this book. The Last Storyteller would make a great read for middle grade/ YA fans who enjoy a bit of sci-fi and folklore.
