I liked the descriptions
The book cover was perfect in encapsulating the main themes of the book- hope and love. It is definitely written for younger kids. The book centers around storytelling which I absolutely love! I liked the descriptions and symbolism the writer uses to create the fairy tale atmosphere, especially when they arrive on the new planet. The main character has to evacuate Earth with her family because earth is about to hit by a comet. Not everyone is chosen to be evacuated. Petra seems to be very intelligent for a 13-year-old and at times the book fails to provide the characters motivation.
At the end I was left slightly disappointed since I wanted to know more about what happens. However, the beautiful writing and vivid descriptions make up for this and I would highly recommend this book for middle school aged kids.
Please note that I am biased to folklore and fable style books.
