I really enjoyed this book by Donna Barba Higuera. This was full of sci-fi and folklore, with an interesting plot line full of suspense. I thought the writing style was simple and easy to understand, a great book for young adults and even younger ones. I also really liked the incorporation of Spanish and the different stories.
The book begins with a comet close to the earth, with 1 week until the planet will be destroyed. Petra and her family along with a few hundred scientists and their children are chosen to board one of three Spacecrafts, which will travel to another planet for colonisation, leaving the rest of humanity behind. Hundreds of years later when Petra wakes up, she discovered that she is the only one who remembers life on earth. A new 'Collective' has formed and taken over the ship with the aim of eradicating all of humanity's past.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I did not like the ending as I wish more was told about what happened next, however, this could hint that maybe there is more for Petra The Storyteller.
