Sarah is in a coma and we don’t know why or how. Kelly is her young friend and neighbour, brimming with attitude. As the story progresses we learn of Sarah’s situation, cleverly and subtly revealed bit by bit.

This book is a bit different, in the fact that the protagonist is in a coma and can communicate with the reader and nobody else. I enjoyed the relationship between Sarah and Kelly; they were like chalk and cheese but still drawn to one another. I struggled to empathise much with Sarah, possibly because of the way her character revealed her story, which left me a little disinterested. But aside from that it was a good book with interesting characters (especially Sarah’s mother and sister) and it was definitely an original plot with a good ending, which I did not see coming at all.
