This is not the book I anticipated it would be when I wrote my first impressions, but not in a bad way. The novel was an unexpected pleasure. It is a slow burner focussing on the rivalry between three adult children following their father's death from MND. The children have one weekend to decide how they will divide up their father's estate. As the book progresses more and more about the children is revealed. It was fascinating to read about them grappling with this moral dilemma. I really enjoyed Caroline Bond's writing style and her characterisation was excellent. I found all the characters very believable and the story was engaging. Often I found myself wondering how I would react in a similar situation. It was really interesting to follow the family dynamics and the development of the narrative was well paced and engaging.

Although this is the first book by this author that I have read I will be looking out for more of her work in the future.
