The Legacy by Caroline Bond was an absorbing quick read that dealt with the emotional and conflicted strains of death, grief and greed.

The novel follows three siblings, Liv, Noah and Chloe as they deal with the death of their father, Jonathon, and his wishes for them to be the executers of his estate that they must agree to split. They also have to take into account their mother, Eloise, who was forced to divorce their father due to his affair and his young girlfriend, Megan, who lived with him for five years.

The three siblings have different characteristics, Liv is headstrong and organised, Noah is always the late and only seems to think of himself and money and Chloe is irresponsible and shies away from the big tasks. They squabbled and argued their way through childhood into adulthood and Jonathon believes his decision will finally bring them together just as long as they can communicate like grown ups.

The book was a great read and shows humanity in all its difficulties and beauty. I would recommend this book to fans of family sagas and the authors other books are worth a look at if you enjoyed this one.
