This is the third book by Caroline Bond which I have read and they all leave me with a nice warm satisfying feeling at the end. The characters are all in a better place than they were at the beginning.
In The Legacy, three siblings have to resolve how to distribute their father’s estate. They need to consider whether to include their mother, Eloise, and Megan, their father’s partner for the last five years in the bequests.
The siblings each have life changing issues affecting their own lives which are not known to the others when they meet to decide on their inheritances.
I loved this book for many reasons:-
-it is well written with credible characters
-it happens in Scarborough, a place where I spent lots of time as a child on holiday and still remember well
-I can empathise with the circumstances, having been executor to two relatives during the last 6 years.
I hated the numerous typos, printing errors and sloppy proof reading. (FYO the money in an amusement arcade comes out of a chute- not a shoot!) That’s the reason why this book only scores 4 stars from me instead of 5.
