I am a huge fan of this author and am working my way through all of her books. There is always a sense of uniqueness and intrigue with this author’s books which I love; The Nothing Man being my personal favourite.

This one definitely did not disappoint, it was a well plotted psychological thriller and I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough!

This is set in Dublin, and follows the main character Alison. While she was at college Alison was dating Will, a charming student who she adored and could do no wrong. At the same time the Canal Killer is on the loose; an evil serial killer who has stalked and killed four young women. Alison is devastated and her life turned upside down when Will is arrested and convicted of these crimes, sentenced to life imprisonment. He has even confessed to the crimes. She flees to the Netherlands and never looks back. Until ten years later a body is found and the police believe a copycat killer is on the loose. They visit Will to see if he has any insight. He says he can help but he will only talk to one person… Alison. The last thing she wants is to go back to that dark part of her past, but she returns to help the police and face her former boyfriend, discovering that until now, Will has left out the worst part of all.

This was tense and full of drama which built up as we went along, leading to an intense finale. I loved the dual timeline of Alison then and now, which allowed us to learn some of the background to the crimes and the main characters while the current story unfolded. The chapters are short and snappy which also adds to the tension. This was a great thriller with likeable characters and great twists, which if you follow my reviews you know I am a huge lover of! This author knows exactly how to write an intriguing psychological thriller with all the right elements, and I will keep reading everything she writes!
