This is a suspenseful crime story set in Dublin.
It is 10 year since Alison (The Liar's Girl) moved to Holland after her boyfriend, Will, pleaded guilty to the murder of 5 young fellow students at St John's College. However, the Gardaí persuade Alison to return to Dublin when 2 further similar deaths occur whilst Will is still being held in a psychiatric prison. Will now professes his innocence of the original murders but he will only talk to Alison about this as he feels his early confession was obtained under duress.
The story alternates between then and now and the plot is cleverly unravelled with Alison's help. The denouement contains unexpected elements which nicely link back to the original prologue tying up all the loose ends.
I'm now going to read the author's first novel, Distress Signals, which also got great reviews.
