The Liar's Girl is a carefully thought out thriller, with rounded out characters and a well realised setting, in and around a fictional Dublin university.
The initial build up feels a little slow and the shifting between time periods and points of view was occasionally frustrating. However this pays off in a plot that develops in a tantalising but credible way, so much so that I had been expecting the final revelation for a while.
I found it somewhat implausible that Alison, ex-girlfriend of the convicted killer, turned out to be a better investigator than the police, but liked the way she was finally able to move on and perhaps atone for having run away from the situation she found herself in 10 years before.
