This isn't my usual choice of book but I really enjoyed the first look. The characters and description of the Treetops home are beautifully written and evocative and the writing made me smile. So many of this style of novel are quite doom and gloom about a child being left in an orphanage-type environment but Treetops is a wonderful place with happy children. Sunday is a lovely character and I'd like to find out what happens to her and if she manages to have her own children. Kitty and Maggie are quite one dimensional characters, as they are still little children but I have a feeling that their stories are inextricably linked and I'd like to find out how that unfolds.
The Christmas setting is really lovely and the joy that the children experience made me smile.
I liked the cover although I tend to avoid that style of cover so it wouldn't necessarily make me pick it up. It's very appropriate for the book though.
