This book was enjoyable with the narratives changing every so often as different lives play out simultaneously.

What I really don't like about this book was Kitty's behaivour towards Richard. It almost seemed as if she was to naive, the way that she whole heartedly continued to back Richard even though she knew that she was being handled as just money. The way she backed him sickened me throughout the v
book. Maggie had experience in that department (sorry to say), and she tried to give Kitty advice, but Kitty was just a stubborn little child, and it eventually killed her.

Who would have guessed that Mrs Fox was Ruby's mother? It was especially heart-racking to find that out, because Ruby treated everybody in her family disrespectfully. Her mother was just a maid to her, and Kitty just a means of money rolling in. To be honest, I was nearly glad when Mrs Fox poured that poison into the brandy that Ruby chugged down every minute.

All in all, it was a good book, but why did so many people who were precious due? Arthur, Kitty, her daughter, Mrs Fox... this book was heartbreaking, but I really could not put it down!
