The cover looks inviting and at first it is difficult to distinguish that the book is a crime novel until you see the broken plate, knife on the breadboard, boiling over saucepan and bloodstains on the floor. The gentle subtleness of the cover and image of a disturbed kitchen looks inviting and that things may happen in the novel that you wouldn't expect.

The plot tackles relevant modern issues such as racism, sexism and white privilege, in a 1950s American setting, and looks to be an engaging and eye-opening element of the story.

This is definitely a novel I would want to pick up and read to find out what happens next, how all the characters are involved and if justice is found.
