These opening chapters had an interesting beginning with a simple but vivid writing style. It clearly sets out the premise and themes of the book in the first chapter (racism, historical etc). It's written in 1st person, present tense as though it was a diary which I think is fascinating. Can't wait to read the rest of the book!
