This book really surprised me. I liked it a lot more than I thought I was going to. Right from the beginning, you were drawn into a world where perfect manicured lawns and perfectly presentable lives are not what they seem. Pepper in a very poignant topic of racial tensions and unlikely friendships.

The book itself was well written, detailed and imaginative without being overly flowery, descriptive and pretentious (as classic mystery ‘who done its’ often can be. It had me eager to devour it as slowly clues were tantalisingly fed through the narrative.

Though, I must agree with other reviews I’ve come across for this story, the ending was a bit of a disappointment, but it surely does not negate the wild ride to find out what exactly happened to Joyce that day? All in all, I would recommend this book as an entertaining read that will make you want to continue on long after you said you were going to turn out the lamp.
