The long long afternoon was not long enough! I really enjoyed this book but I feel it ended a bit quick. I did guess the murderer before the end but I felt it could have been padded out a bit more at the end. The main character is very engaging and I really liked her personality . It should be noted that at the beginning of the book there is a warning, the book is set in California in the 50s. The language and attitude toward minorities is typical of the time. There are several moments in the book where I was disgusted but again, sadly, it is what was happening at the time. The story was not originally written in English but was translated because it’s such a good story. The author also has a little bit at the back were she gets a little political and addresses racial issues and injustice. I think perhaps it would have been better for her to save that for her blog. A good read, very engaging and kept my interest the entire time.
