First of all i loved the opening sentence, it really just slammed me in the face and woke interest in me to read further! I personally love to read novels that take place in the past, like the 19th century, but it’s always a secret of the book is written well, this one, The Long, Long Afternoon, did not disappoint at all! Furthermore i also loved the book design and writing style! It was also great to read to book from the perspective of a woman, Lizzie Bennett, who is a funny and quite great person to read the story from. As soon as you start reading, you feel some sort of connection between you and the central character, Lizzie, because she talks in a certain way everyone would understand. You don’t have to have shared stories with her, but you still feel like Lizzie takes you to her side while reading! I also liked the other characters by the way they where sp different from each other!
