Yesterday, I kissed my husband for the last time . . .

It's the summer of 1959, and the well-trimmed lawns of Sunnylakes, California, wilt under the sun. At some point during the long, long afternoon, Joyce Haney, wife, mother, vanishes from her home, leaving behind two terrified children and a bloodstain on the kitchen floor.

I am so disappointed. I went into this book with such high aspirations and midway through, I unfortunately lost interest. This was more my downfall than the books. I was gripped from the opening and then I realised that I live thrillers but needed more. However, it did work with the 1950s setting and perhaps, I am just expecting to much. I tend to read thrillers set in modern times and I am used to the drama and tension.

Would I give another book from this author a go? Yes, I would. But will stick to thrillers set in this century.
