Oh my lord!... I'm not usually into crime fiction at all but from the minute I read the sneak peak, I was hooked.
Every chapter left me thinking it was a different character who committed the crime. The way the characters were written left me simultaneously loving and hating every single one of them. I could empathise with every single character, even those who did wrong and committed crimes along the way.
There were so many twists and turns it's near impossible to put it down. Even the crime itself is shrouded in mystery until right at the end.
You gain so much insight into each character with the way each chapter is written from different POVs.
There are also so many social issues and injustices highlighted within the book, from the blatant racism that is so prevalent in 1950s America, to the sexist views against women expressed throughout. This simultaneously shows how far we have come but also how far we have yet to go in battling these issues.
I can't believe this is Inga Vespa's debut novel and I can't wait to see what she produces next!
