As a fan of historical fiction and a Scot, I was instantly drawn to this book by the title and cover alone. I've never visited St Kilda but the beautifully written descriptions of the islands really do make me want to go.
I enjoy books that dip in and out of different timelines and places, and with St Kilda and the War in such severe contrast to each other, I found it particularly interesting in this one. This short passage has me hooked and desperate to find out what happens next.
