Not my usual style - but I am intrigued
Firstly, the cover is understated, yet romantic. It draws my attention, and makes me want to read on. I love that the book begins with a map - it helps to see the island as the story develops.
The detailed writing helps with the imagery, and you can feel the longing and the hopelessness of Fred and the other men. However, I was a little confused by the time & character changes throughout the first few chapters.
I am intrigued by the first few chapters, and I love the premise of the story - one for my TBR!
