What a lovely book - I was captivated by this beautiful island off the coast of Scotland. This is a sweeping love story starting in chapters from 1927 and 1940 Its the story of Chrissie, Fred and Archie through meeting in 1927 through the war years .
For me I loved the descriptions of St Kilda - it conjured up images of a forgotten village where the islanders are reliant on the weather when boats could reach them and provide them with provisions. Everyone lived a simple life, I loved the wild and natural beauty that was conjured up - the amazing wildlife there and that this book is based on a real island and its inhabitants.
This is a book to read and savor and completely swept me away to another place and time .
