I really enjoyed this book, it's set on the islands of St Kilda and the descriptions of the islands are extremely accurate. The 3 main characters are always in the first person so you know which each one is thinking, and how they react to the situation.
The descriptions of the land and how they survived the harsh winter weather maybe a little too much information for some people, but this is what the people of St Kilda had to do to survive each year, and by doing so and relying on each other became much closer than in today's world.
Until the struggle to survive and the lack of adult males to help with the day to day living became to much and they are all evacuated from the islands and spread far and wide.
The love interest between 2 of the characters is what keeps you reading until you reach the end of the book.
