At first I really didn’t think I was going to enjoy it but I was proved wrong! From the beginning I was captivated but the island of St Kilda and of the main character Chrissie. I just couldn’t put the book down. It was beautifully written and descriptive I felt like I could really see the island. Chrissie was such a likeable character and defiantly a good choice of a main character. Going from before the war to the war itself, at first I thought I was going to get confused but it turned out to be a great writing style for this book. I never wanted the story to end, I wanted to keep reading and find out more about their lives.
I would recommend this book to anyone, even if this isn’t the book you would usually read it will have you captivated from the outset.
