This is a novel to get swept away in. I sat down in front of a roaring fire with a cup of coffee and this book and before I knew it hours had passed. This book brings romance, sadness and tears and history to life within it's pages and the author enthralls you and sucks you in deeper with every page.
Fred is the main character and as he goes to work on ST Kilda for the summer he cannot imagine that he will be one of the last people on the island. No one can foretell that yet another war is on the horizon in years to come but as he meets the girl of his dreams and falls in love war is indeed imminent and he must do his part. From love and laughter to almost needing the tissues I love how the author has taken me, as a reader, on a journey in this book
