A beautifully written, breathtaking story with loveable characters
Rosie Walsh has captured my heart with her beautiful writing, loveable characters and breathtaking story!
I was hooked from the outset and adored Sarah, the main character whose perspective this story is told from. Sarah and Eddie met by chance then spent the next seven days together; a truly perfect seven days. I could really imagine myself in Sarah’s shoes questioning just what could have happened to Eddie to result in him not calling from the airport like he promised before boarding his flight for a long-booked holiday (this being the reason their seven days together had to come to an end). Was the mutual feeling of falling in love in reality only one sided? Sarah’s friends tell her to forget him but Sarah knows deep down something must have happened; there must be a reason for Eddie’s total silence.
There were so many wonderful people in Sarah’s life who I really enjoyed getting to know. I loved seeing her relationships with each of these characters as the story progressed. It was so interesting to see how Sarah attempted to balance their views against her own beliefs about Eddie. I really liked how the chapters in Part 1 would change from the present back to some of the key moments during Sarah and Eddie’s magical seven days together too. This allowed a real insight in to what Sarah experienced and how her heart became full of love and longing for Eddie.
This wonderful story has taken me on a real rollercoaster of emotions with unexpected twists and turns which have made this such a fantastic read! In one particular chapter I gasped aloud in shock only to later feel my heart break and my eyes welling with tears. The opening of part 3 was also so clever in reinforcing something I felt had to be the only outcome, only for me to then be delivered with another amazing revelation which made my heart soar!
This is an absolutely breathtaking story and I am so excited to see what Rosie writes next. In the meantime, I will be recommending this book to everyone!
