A moving account of guilt, dependence and ultimately forgiveness

The man who didn’t call deals with the themes of love and loss. A tragedy occurs and the repercussions are enormous. The story unfolds after the main character Sarah spends seven idyllic days with the man of her dreams only to have him disappear. I was worried how the author would deal with this in our electronic age but she pulls it off in an entirely convincing way. The story doesn’t just concentrate on the couple but shows how easily families can fall apart and how guilt, anger and grief affect individuals in different ways. Sarah is a fragile woman in many ways but is determined to discover what has happened to her mystery man and in doing so opens up the painful past not just for herself but for everyone affected by events nearly twenty years ago.
