When I saw "The man who didn't call" I initially thought this would be a light hearted, easy read for summer. Although I did find it easy to read, it delivered so much more than I was expecting and exceeded all of my expectations. What I thought would be a standard romance story which ultimately would end in a predictable way, I was treated to a gripping and intriguing story full of twists and turns. Whenever I thought I knew what was happening, a plot twist would occur which turned everything on its head. This is why I love to read. To be surprised in this way. It was not only the lead character Sarah that was a well developed character, the book is full of a brilliant cast of characters and you get to know them quickly.
The story is centred around Sarah who has just ended a serious relationship and started a week long intense, whirlwind romance with Eddie. But when she expects him to call once he gets to the airport, he doesn't and she has a dreaded feeling something is wrong. She just doesn't realise what yet and the truth is going to hurt.
This book is extremely emotional. It made me happy and sad in equal measure and I am really happy I read this.
The blurb, although it sounds good, does not do this story justice. Although I found the ended good but not brilliant, the rest of the roller coaster story more than makes up for it.
