⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars

I nearly knocked off half a star due to the slowish start but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I can understand why it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. However, although this book may be a little low on the drama in the first third, I did want to keep reading. As someone who can get distracted easily, slow books often lose me, but something about this book kept me wondering. 📖

I’m SO glad it did. I’m a bit of an annoying reader in the sense that I always try to predict the ending and I just didn’t get close with this book. It’s the first crime/drama book that has actually hit me with an unexpected discovery in a long time. For something so obvious, it really made the whole book flip in my mind, the storyline completely changed, the characters completely changed and I LOVE THAT! 🤯

I really enjoyed how the final section of the book was like reading about a completely different set of characters compared to the first part. The twist and the ending were actually perfect for me. It was light enough to be an easy read and I never felt out of the loop but still strong enough to make me feel so fulfilled when the missing piece was added. Also, the romance in this book made me purchase a rom-com to read afterwards! So it influenced me quite a bit. 👏🏻

I don’t want to make this book sound like EVERYONES number 1 of the year, it won’t be. I think because I’d had a slog of bad thrillers one after another, this book just hit me. I needed it. I cannot give it less than 5 stars because I was genuinely sad to put it away. One of my top 3 of 2020 💕
