What a book!

In The Man Who Didn't Call we follow Sarah, recently amicably divorced from her husband, who has returned to the UK to spend the anniversary of losing her sister with her parents. Whilst in Gloucestershire she meets Eddie, by chance, whom she falls in love with in a whirlwind 7 days. Eddie heads off on holiday promising to call Sarah upon his return. Only he doesn't. He is the man who didn't call.

This book was everything and so much more than I expected. I was drawn in from the outset and so immersed in Sarah's pain and frustration that I couldn't put the book down.

The narrative of the book alternates between the past (Sarah and Eddie's 7 day romance) and the present (Sarah determined to talk to Eddie again). The alternating timelines were easy to follow and really propelled the book to the next level.

There is so much more to this book than the typical girl-meets-boy, but I won't go in to detail for fear of giving too much away.

I raced through this book, and rightly so. Easily one of the best books I have read this year.

Thank you to Readers First, Pan Macmillan, Mantle Books and Rosie Walsh for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
