Well I wasn't expecting that?! I went into this with my contemporary romance hat on and while it was about a love affair, it was a love affair gone terribly wrong. A dark secret lay beneath the surface of this love story and the outcome was a corker of a twist!

So here is the story. Boy and girl meet, they fall in love and start a whirlwind romance. Then boy goes on holiday, doesn't call and everything nose dives. The urge to find out why Sarah has been ghosted is what keeps you hooked in this story. It was a slow burner with the suspense building gradually as you start to really get to know the characters and uncover the truth.

Walsh has written an original, modern story line as it certainly wasn't your typical ”chick lit”. It dug deeper and explored pain, loss, family drama and forgiveness. It felt very much a story within a story. You had your surface plot with Eddie's disappearance and as the book progressed, you found there was more to this tale. Walsh certainly takes you in an unexpected direction and I did not see it coming! Convincing characters, well-crafted plot, a whole lot of heart with so many twists dolloped on top, a really clever book.

For me, this was a thriller meets contemporary meets romance which equals a delight! I listened to this on audiobook and Catherine Press narrated it beautifully.
